The Storm

by Fluffy Cotton   Jun 10, 2004

A shadow fell across the seas
And dropped upon the mountain side
It gently seeped into the trees
And carried through the misty breeze
Until it hit the ocean tide

Silently the wind did sing
a deep and steady melody
for later this great, godly thing
would soon cast off a mighty sting
and rip through every dignity

The water flew down from the sky
and hit, like stones, upon the ground
and in it?s path left nothing dry
whizzing as it fast flew by
and quick produced a thunderous sound

The sky was filled with bursting light
as sparks flew from the power lines
and darkness filled the still, black night
with every creature stiff with fright
as lightning soon fell down their spines.

The moon shone brightly through the mist
as bullfrogs sighed with sweet content
the wind let down it?s airy hiss
as waves their anger did dismiss
as all the world their pace relent

the light of morning?s dawn shone through
the leaves of the great lofty oak
the plush green path was sprayed with dew
as birds from mangled branches flew
as songs like charms they did invoke

The storm to one can be a bless
to some it?s just a gloomy day
but as for me I think it best
for storms to come much more then less
their sinless purity displays
