Is what I see what you see?

by Teria   Feb 3, 2009

I see your face before me,
like a map I drew myself.
But, who's to say you're not different
than the thoughts inside my head

Long beard?
Maybe short.
Maybe even none.

Green eyes?
Maybe blue,
hazel, even white.

Dark skin?
Maybe white,
purple,
maybe blue.

Blonde hair?
Maybe brown,
maybe even red.

I see your journeys before me,
like a book I wrote myself.
But, who's to say they're not different
than the thoughts inside my head.

Long trips?
Maybe short,
maybe in between.

Camel back?
Maybe horse,
elephant,
or donkey.

Sand deserts?
Maybe grass,
maybe even ice.

Followers by thousands?
Maybe few,
maybe more.

I see your home before me,
like a house I built myself.
But, who's to say it's not different
than the thoughts inside my head.

Maybe gold?
Maybe white,
maybe even grey.

Maybe mansions?
Maybe shacks,
maybe even hay.

Maybe sit down dinners?
Maybe restaurants,
maybe even bars ...

Maybe you?
Maybe God,
maybe even both.

I see what I do see,
like I see it now.
But, who's to say what I see,
isn't different in your eyes?

I wanted to read more of your work to find something I like but again I diddnt really enjoy this poem, It was different in style to most that I have read on here before but it diddnt capture me. It's a very good attempt at this style of poem but It's really the structure that threw me off completly. However It's an imaginative and as Micheal said above thought provoking so nice job.

A truly wonderful piece. Needless to say I am consistently captivated by your rhythm and ability to create wonderful cadence. I have oft wondered if people saw things the way my eyes saw them. However, i could never put this into words nearly as beautifully as you did.
