Better Without

by Rolo   Feb 3, 2009

Your soul is seduced with such elegant charm
You ease in with patience to avoid any harm
Entrapped with love and bound with lust,
You've since been stripped of all your trust

Forever the victim of life's twisted game
Now left with feelings of merciless shame
Questioning motives behind the deceit
Answers are scarce and never complete

Vacant, cold, the depression runs deep
Too many thoughts for your mind to sleep
Your love was wasted along with your breath
Causing your promises to fall to their death

All that you are has been broken and beat
Your beautiful spirit is housing defeat
Trust is an action and happiness, a place
Too far to dream of attempting a chase

Exposed to your weakness, too hard to deal
What was your nightmare is now too real
Unknowing of intentions and lost within
Haunted by images of what could've been

Your heart is drowning as you leave it behind
It's now time to face the depths of your mind
Scared and reserved as you quietly doubt
But soon you will see that you're better without

End.

Friendship poems can say so much about the person that writes them
    easy flow and rhyme.

    Nicely written, i can relate.
rhyming and rythm, were wonderfully penned.
nothing and no one, could attempt to amend.

Another amazing job Rolo! I had to read this poem a couple of times because the flow seemed quick and I almost missed the awesome meaning crammed in every pore of it! This poem was so striking that it recalled my own experiences of such a hard time in my life. One can only hope that time shows the wisdom our hearts so often ignore.
