Determination

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 3, 2009

Success of endurance and determination
Depends on your heart, soul, and mind
Working steady to the time of termination

You may study steadfastly for an examination
With no fear efforts will fail with undermined
Success of endurance and determination

While the iron is hot without procrastination
Strike with rhythm where you are inclined
Working steady to the time of termination

The will of the people has forged a nation
Seek this land, pilgrims, and you shall find
Success of endurance and determination

One nation under God without discrimination?
Liberty can be seen while justice is yet blind
Working steady to the time of termination

Was the end not the beginning with the declaration?
As the declaration of independence was signed
Success of endurance and determination
Working steady to the time of termination

I wrote this villanelle for Presidents Day
A villanelle is a poetic form which entered English-language poetry in the 1800s from the imitation of French models.[1] A villanelle has only two rhyme sounds. The first and third lines of the first stanza are rhyming refrains that alternate as the third line in each successive stanza and form a couplet at the close. A villanelle is nineteen lines long, consisting of five tercets and one concluding quatrain. [2

    "Success of endurance and determination

^^each line is inspiring and motivating ... especially for those having low self esteem and confidence ... well written,...

"While the iron is hot without procrastination
Strike with rhythm where you are inclined
Working steady to the time of termination"

^^without fail jump at the opputunity you get ... sharp your skills and work with determination... surely success will be all yours ... loved the metaphors used here and the imgary...

"Was the end not the beginning with the declaration?
As the declaration of independence was signed"

^^ I found these two lines a little off... because 'declaration ' was used twice and the syllable count of first line dint match the other stanza... well the emotion is all there ...

    beautiful write..

Great poem. The rhyme pattern makes it a little difficult to comprehend but you pulled it off. Good poem. Nice vocab. 5/5
