You Can't Fix These Scars

by Paige Lea   Feb 6, 2009

You can't fix these scars
not if you're the one who made me hurt
you can't right this wrong
not if you're the one who pulled the trigger
not if you're the one who dug the grave
and you're the one who pushed me in
you can't fix this pain
not this time, never again

you can't leave your mind
not if you're the one who's guilty
you can't claim your rights
not if you're the one who killed me
not if you're the one who didn't care
and you're the one who let me fall
you can't bring me back
you broke my heart and watched it crack

you can't live in silence
not if i'm the one who's screaming from pain
you can't walk away
not if i'm the one that you betrayed
not if i'm the one who was always there
and you're the one who left me here
you can't be so mad
it's not fair, i'm not that bad

i can't live this way
not if you're the one who shoveled six feet
i can't cry every day
not if you're the one who doesn't even blink
not if you're the one who promised me
and you're the one who let it go
but i can't hate you, still
i love you now, and always will

but love can't save my heart
not if i'm the one who's giving up
and love can't stay alive
not if i'm the one who's not good enough
not if i'm the one who makes mistakes
and you're the one who remembers them
love cannot save me
because if you're not there, i don't know how to be

That was beautifuly written. There was something in the rhyme scheme that made the flow shaky throughout the poem, but the emotions were so strong that it drowned out all of the rest. The title also got my attention, and your message came through clearly. Keep writting, 5/5!
