My Dream

by gasping for air   Jun 11, 2004

I see him in the halls,
I see him riding the bus,
I see him with his friends,
I see him kissing his girl.

He says hello,
I say it back,
We tease each other,
Every single day.

And each time,
That I looked into his eyes,
I prayed and hoped,
I would see more than just a joke.

We were together,
Once and only once,
And it meant the world to me,
It made me feel wanted.
But all happy things must come to an end,
As mine did,
I didn't keep it for long,
And to this day I wonder.

I wonder what would've happened,
If she hadn't gotten him back,
If we had stayed together,
If I had had a chance to love him.

After wishing day and night,
I finally realized,
That I can't live on dreams,
And I've moved on.

My heart has gone on,
To love and learn,
But there is a part of me,
That yearns to be the one.
The one in his arms,
The one he spends his spare time with,
The one he cares for,
The one he loves.

That part of me,
Will always be yearning,
Always wishing and hoping,
But never get what it wants.

I'm reading your poems backwards (from most recent to earlier) and I can really see the progress you've made. I really do likethe idea behind this one...and the poem itself is NOT bad.... just could use some work to make it a little more... uniform...I guess is the word I'mlooking for.

You really do have a lot of talent though.. and a gift for expressing your emotions
