Do you remember? I do.

I close my eyes and remember those days,
So innocent, so free,
When I was young and said what I had to say.
I wasn't brave, just foolish,
Always proving things to friends,
Who can climb the highest,
Or who can run further or faster,
Who may be stronger?

I still remember, do you?
When cupcakes were brought to the classrooms for you,
The kids sing that song "Happy Birthday,"
While you sit and stare at your cupcake.
Those Valentines, simple cares that say "BE MINE,"
And those heart shaped candies we shared.
When Christmas comes we'd all have fun,
Because those peppermint candy canes were there.
Then the stories of Santa, Tooth fairy, and more,
Would make you smile and obedient.
Sadly those simple pleasures are gone,
We can't go back to what's done,
But those memories are always shared.

I remember all these things and had wondered if anyone else in the world would too. The classroom parties, mother bringing the cupcakes, valentine candies. Could not wait to go to bed when I lost a tooth so the tooth fairy could visit. Your poem brought all these memories back vividly. Thank you. Excellent write. 5/5
