I've Heard Why The Caged Bird Cries...

by Talie   Feb 17, 2009

They say it sings from loneliness and rage
perched upon its beam, day after day
I've heard why the caged bird dreams

It sings it's sadness, a mournful tune
The song fills the room, in a medley of grey
I know why the caged bird cries

By command or by a will of it's own
it softly cries out through it's a bars
I've heard why the caged bird dreams

No sound echoes through the silent halls
But silence is given in bated return
I know why the caged bird cries

Its hanged itself in quiet defeat
Hung with a heavy heart and a rush of wings
I know why the caged bird dreams

Into the sky on a wail of black
Joined lost hopes and forgotten desires
I know why the caged bird dreams
I've heard why the caged bird cries...
