Stray II

by Shauna   Feb 20, 2009

I sit in front of a large door
I have seen these people many times before.
When they come into my line of sight,
I am suddenly filled with fright.

I come back later that night
Waiting for morning's first light.
When they finally come out into the crisp air
I give them a contemplative stare.

They all look kind enough,
But I know all too well that it could just be a bluff.
I think I will give them a chance
As I make a small advance.

I still come to the same house after all these days,
It is amazing what can happen to strays.
I'm letting my joy show through every action,
And am filled with great satisfaction.

I leave every now and then
So I don't feel stuck in a pen.
I never thought I could have a life like this,
And I let myself be overcome with bliss.
