Longing To Be Something More

by Beautiful Chaos   Feb 21, 2009

Does a tree wave in the breeze
Longing to be a bird
Soaring from it's roots
Finding freedom in flight

Do flowers dream
Yearning to be the buzzing bee
Seemingly unaware
Of their beauty and allure

Why do we
Long to be so much more
Eternally searching
Tastelessly dissatisfied

Our own miraculous nature
Never enough
The more we learn
Closer, death comes

We manufacture beautiful destruction
On our quest for eternity
A selfish web of good and bad
Entangling our souls

Gods created in our image
Replicating life to touch immortality
Recreating the heavens
With our flawed delusions of grandeur

Some days it is I
Who longs to be that flower
Rooted tree or buzzing bee
The bird holding freedom

Praying
In their perfection
They
Would never long to be me

Could truly relate to these lines:

    "Some days it is I
Who longs to be that flower
    Rooted tree or buzzing bee
    The bird holding freedom"

To me, these were the best lines of the poem as I am sure we all have wished to be something or someone different. Forever searching for something more.

Nice rhythmn to the whole piece and you chose your words eloquently.

    Well done, dear friend
    Always
