Never Again

by emo angel   Feb 24, 2009

For every bruise
he left on her body,
she drank a glass of booze.

For each time she cried,
there was a cut on her wrist,
that she had to hide.

For every night she lied awake,
terrified.
She took the drugs before she started to shake.

For everyday she had to wonder,
if she'd be alive to live another.

For all those days she was scared to go home,
because she knew he was there,
and they'd be all alone.
He was waiting to beat her,
to hear her scream out of pain.
But one things for sure,
he has no shame.

For what he's done,
almost the worst of sins:
he has beaten his daughter,
from her head down past her shins.

For all the bad memories,
that are burned in her brain,
she'll never forget
all that pain.

For every smile she had to fake,
all the lies people weren't buying anymore:
"Those bruise? I got them during softball."
"Oh, that cut? *fake smile* Dumb cat!"

Now that her Holocaust has ended,
and the bruises have started to heal,
with more time she'll be mended,
she has made the world a deal:

She will do everything in her power to just help on child,
catch their abuser.

And she's confident with one thing:
he wont do it again.
No!
Not to me again!
