Walking in Grace

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 26, 2009

What can I write about grace not written before?
God gave this heavenly gift to make a spirit soar
By grace we know and understand things on high
But for the merciful grace of God there go I

Grace comes from the Father with love so divine
His Son could turn jars of water into the finest wine
Only the beginning of the favor that answered a call
By the grace of the Father the Son sacrificed all

Jesus walked on water and I know that is true
He passed on His healing grace to a chosen few
God gave the greatest gift of all to the human race
There is nothing that any man can do to earn grace

The journey of a man that trust his own strength
Cannot survive a trip of even the shortest length
The meek accepting grace can travel any distance
All we need to do is receive the gift with no resistance

For one thing, I really enjoyed the opening line. Not just because it's a question, but it's kind of a rhetorical question at that. I couldn't think of an answer to it, and it doesn't seem like the narrator was either.

To be honest, I'm not a very religious person. I'm spiritual, but not religious and don't follow God or anybody, for that matter. However that doesn't stop me from appreciating this poetry for what it is: absolutely stunning. I'm glad you find hope and beauty in your beliefs.

I enjoyed this piece a lot. I did especially like the rhyming in this piece. It helped flow the story along well. One thing though is I wonder why you put question marks after questions but not after the end of each complete thought? It kind have threw me off. Overall nice poem and I enjoyed it
