I keep trying

I couldn't stop loving you
even if i tried
even when you knock me down

like a sad puppy
trying to get its owners love
devoted and faithful
though you don't recognize
and turn your head in the opposite direction
i cant seem to let go
though i want to
you've gotten under my skin
and attached your memory
forever living within me
and refusing to die
though pathetic i may look

I've never been so clear
as to what i crave the most
and even though i feel
like diabetic in a candy shop
i crave the sweetness that is you
even if that means going into shock
i believe in fate
and destiny as well
and i know you were mine
though in this lifetime it didn't work
perhaps in the next
365 wishes a year
1 for each star i wish on
and 366 if you count birthdays
those are all for you
even if they are wasted
my heart wont give up hope
sadly my brain knows different
so why do i keep trying?
