Free falling through life

by Still Slightly Broken   Mar 12, 2009

Playground school bell rings,
Just as she crashes down
She looked so happy a moment ago
Confused, her friends begin to frown

What's wrong with her?
Wait, is she even breathing?
Her pulse is quickly fading
At last, she's finally leaving

But wait, this isn't right,
This is not how she's supposed to go
These people aren't supposed to see,
They're not even supposed to know

Maybe if she fights it,
She can beat her death
Maybe if they get her heart beating,
She can take another breath

It doesn't feel like she's dying
Her life isn't flashing before her eyes
All she can see are her scars,
All she can hear are her lies

Suddenly she realizes what's happening
For you see, this was her life
She was to busy pretending,
She got too focused on her knife

She finally realizes she's been dreaming
Finally, she's truly awake
But too bad she's gone already
Too bad she spent her whole life being fake.
