Rose Between The Cracks

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Mar 13, 2009

People come and others go.
Some betray you and some are true.
But in the end of the day.
All you're left with you is you.

When you're lying sick and no one cares.
When your eyes are shedding fearful tears
Of your weakness no one has a clue
For in the end, all you're left with you is you.

So take care of yourself and maintain your health.
Nothing can substitute for that true wealth.
And when you look around and no one is there.
Remember that life is not always fair.

But there are some fine people lingering still.
Those who are full of true goodwill.
If you look hard enough amongst the crowd.
The sun won't forever hide behind the cloud.

Respect yourself and raise your head.
Ignore the jealous rumors that have spread.
For a fruitful tree like you is under attack.
Because you're a rose that grew between the cracks.

So take care of yourself and maintain your health.
Nothing can substitute for that true wealth.
And when you look around and no one is there.
Remember that life is not always fair.

* Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared. - Tupac Shakur

The title drew me in since Roses are my favorite flowers and I am glad that it did. Your words are so true. At the end of the day, it is only ourself that is left and life is not always fair. The only one we can rely on is ourself, and we do have to take care of us, hold our head up and live. Excellent write. 5/5
