Bullet For My Valentine

by silhouette fairy   Mar 17, 2009

I've wondered down this reckless street before,
hand sliding down the syringe
or better yet, the barrel of your gun.
It only offers safety,
and every chance I've declined.
Once again the angel of death greets me,
he stretches out a comforting hand,
it beckons me to take it.
I decline, just walking at his side for now.
But still his clammy hands grasp my neck,
slowly I tie this savior.
Another hero of mine,
but really will I be saved?
You've let me down so many times,
will you keep your word now?
Or will the knife in my back just turn again?
I step upon my pedestal
with my necklace secure,
my hand reaches out for his,
fingers touch, cold but sure
he'll be there this time.
Slowly my legs shake beneath me,
a click of the door and you enter,
looking at me with horror.
I just smile as you run to my side,
flowers hitting the floor.
You finally remembered my favorite,
innocent white roses.
My eyes fill with tears.
It seems like minutes, but only seconds pass.
I reach out for you,
the pedestal slips,
you cry out, catching me in your arms.
I choke out a cry, as my neck snaps
and the angel of death takes my hand,
as promised.
Still crying you find the cold metal,
now heavy in your hand,
you aren't sure, I know that much.
But Romeo and Juliet you'd call us,
now is your chance, the final one.
You whisper, "I love you my Valentine"
with pressure and a click
you're holding my hand,
kissing me softly,
truly spending forever together.
