Lioness

by Beautiful Chaos   Mar 18, 2009

I always wander
Through the zoo
Questions
Filling up my head

What is it like
To live in a cage
Different
More confining than my own

Always drawn
To the big cats
And their majesty
I see her

The lioness
Alone in her cage
Somewhat skinned of her fierceness
She slumbers

Does she dream?
Her instincts calling
Creating wildebeests
In a restless sleep

Muscles taut
As she lays in the grass
Waiting
Stalking her nervous prey

Awoken
By the call of spectators
Does that longing
Linger

The call of the wild
She has never tasted
Scattered acacia trees
Ghosts in her memory

(Collab w/ Paralyzed)
