Porcelain doll (Rictameter )

by Ingrid   Mar 18, 2009

Fragile
porcelain doll
Ageless Chinese beauty,
a feast for our eyes to look at
Your graceful features tell a history
of centuries gone by, wisdom, splendor
Intriguing, mystical people
Blooming and blossoming
still. Strong...yet so
fragile

Rictameter
Rictameter is a scheme similar to Cinquain. Starting your first line with a two syllable word, you then
consecutively increase the number of syllables per line by two. i.e. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 Then down again,
8, 6, 4, 2 Making the final line the same two syllable word you began with.

This poem is a dedication to my Chinese girlfriend Judy Lin. I have added a link to one of my other poetry sites, where you can see her in all her beauty:)

This is another 'wow' poem from you Ingrid!
What great words you string together here, creating
a perfect, descriptive vision of this fragile porcelain doll.
Every word has an impact, and hits home every time! Good work Ingrid!

A really amazing dedication to a friend who is a true gem. This is one of my favorite forms and you have done a flawless job in my opinion. There was so much imagery, and not only were you descriptive but you gave off much more. A lovely write that shows such writing skill you have. 5/5 from me, keep writing, always and forever...

    God Bless You!
