Lovers are selfless they give their hearts away without a hint of fear or regret
Many call them heroes for making such a sacrifice, but sometimes their acts of love
Are the most selfish of all ..
And so with fierce determination in her eyes, she caught her last breath
Held the last memory of him in her heart, and gave him away her soul.
Splinters ran through his body causing him to suffocate as he breathed her in
Piercing and leaving scars in every inch of his being as they both have become one.
Eyes fluttered open as he have awoken to meet the new world
Scanning the place, the sun departing the sky, it is twilight
Mind still unstable, searching for her face, waiting to hear her voice
He saw her there a few heart beats away, silent and still, white and pale
He called her name desperately and urgently, crawling to reach her side
She had her right hand stretched in his way longing to almost touch him
Feeling her skin, he shivered, cold and chilling like a late summer breeze
Bending his head to her chest, reality sunk in, not even one fluttering pulse
Denial washes in, he refuses to believe, she cannot be gone she cannot be .. dead?
Tears fill his eyes creating a fog through which he cannot see
Throbbing fast against his chest so hard the beating is deafening
"The kiss of life"; like a madman thinking of ways to bring her back
When all attempts fail the person loses hope, loses faith
All is gone, like life does not exist, like it never did
And suddenly walls come crashing down, closing on him
Screaming out loud, he can take it no more, "Come Back"
Sobbing furiously, pleading for her not to go, not to leave him alone
Hollow ghosts reply back, repeating his words, only more aggrevating
Hardly breathing now, losing all strength, he wraps himself around her
Frightened of letting go, he holds her close, not wanting to move on
Forever he shall stay, by her side, allowing himself to fade away with her
Losing sight, giving up to the darkness, surrendering to the grief
Selfish he was, never to know that all she wanted was for him to have a life.
Silly lovers, cannot live without each other, cannot die with one another.
So many lives wasted, none of them make it, yet they never cease these random acts of heroic love.
