The Daisy Effect

by Kelsy   Mar 26, 2009

A seed, planted carefully by the hands of a child
Cared for with the most tender of gestures

Watered with measured drips of sweet water
And fed with only the most potent of fertilizers.
Placed in the precise location where the sun's rays shine

Slowly it grows
And the child along with it

Though it seems to be stunted
The youth does not give up hope
But continues its affection

Growing in sync for years

By the time the child is no longer
The flower has bloomed

A common daisy

As the child dies
So does the daisy
Withering away

A lifetime spent
A lifetime given

A story written

Growth of a flower
And of a heart

A true purpose
