In Desperate Need Of A Vacation

by Joy   Mar 27, 2009

Im sick of this comfortless lifestyle im living
this mundane routine afterschool
walk home, cry, and go to sleep
im guessing thats the unwritten rule

glance in the kitchen and theres my mom
sitting comatose at the table, drunk and dozing off
i smell smoke, my stepdad must be here
i can tell from his roaring smokers cough

i hear giggling, i put my ear to the wall
my sister, on the phone being fake
"those arent your friends" i tell her all the time
just be yourself for heaven's sake

i feel the vibrations under my feet again
its Simba, the oldest dog that we have
Hes dreaming hes running in his sleep
watching that, kinda made me laugh

my pillow is still wet, and it woke me up
i smell the smoke and i feel the vibrations
i hear fake laughter, muffled by drunken slurring words
i am in desperate need of a vacation
