Do we remember?

by NineteenMinutes   Mar 27, 2009

I stare at the wall with a list of names as long as the sky,
I know you're all dead but I still don't know why,
What was the purpose of you dying at all?
The world is the same no empire did fall,
I look at your names and hang my head in shame,
We all stand together and promise never again,
But this a lie because we never learn,
People will hunger, villages will burn,
I know you're dead; and you died for your right,
You were just one of many who all lost the fight,
Reduced to a name on nothing more than a wall,
You are forgotten, no one cares at all,
You're just a story of long long ago,
And a world we can't see, a world we don't know,
Just a speck of dust now blown away,
The tide that fights so strongly but never can stay,
An immortal being that no one can see,
Reduced to a mere nothing a nobody,
I stare at the wall and believe it's a crime,
You died for your country ahead of your time.
