A baby girl
Was born into
This unforgiving world
On a hot day
In July.
Her father took her into
His arms as she took her first
Breath.
He held her,
The first time she cried.
Hazl eyes,
Just like her daddy.
Small feet and hands,
Seemed quite uncanny.
Never had this man
Felt unconditional love.

This tiny being.

The baby is now a woman,
But still she cries.

The woman looks
At her daddy,

With Laughter.
There were only blue skies.
She beings to cry,
Although this time,
The woman keeps
The tears inside.
Because her daddy
Won't hold her
In his arms anymore.
