My boy, my friend beyond time

by Ingrid   Apr 3, 2009

My Boy

The house is so quiet, my son
You left just a few hours ago
Although I don't say it that often
I care more than you'll ever know

It seems like only yesterday,
you came to walk beside me
on this planet we call home
It took me just a second to agree

My friend throughout the ages,
how many roles did we play?
This time around as mother and son,
getting to know each other in a different way

Two spiritual creatures, seeing beyond time,
with a bond unbreakable and profound
From the moment you entered this world
my eyes lit up, I walked on different ground

When you asked if you could join me here
in that vision so long ago, I said yes right away
So thrilled to have you with me, to share this life
The brightest star in my sky from that very day

I pray for your safe return, from this trip down south
Your first time ever to be gone all by yourself
In these quiet hours , sitting in your empty room
I realize life without you, would mean only living half

Moving, emotive and beautiful all at once, Ingrid. I have young children and haven't had that experience yet......but I can imagine. A lovely piece.

Mother's love for a child is the greatest thing in the world and the first time they are away from home on a trip alone can be a scary thing for both. He will be fine for I am sure you have done a good job of teaching him about life and the world. Well done. 5/5
