Hold Onto Your Fork

by Tiller   Apr 3, 2009

One may sit and wonder,
What lies up ahead.
How long will I live this life?
When will I be dead?

Sometimes you hit obstacles,
That stand in your way.
You try to get by them,
Day after day.

Then comes the time,
When you can take no more.
Your mind is too tired,
To open that last door.

Remember this saying,
When you think that you are done.
Hold on to your fork,
For the best is yet to come.

*I was reading that one chain email story about the lady dying and the pastor wondered why she wanted a fork, and it cheered me up a little today. Kind of inspired this poem. If you've never read it, let me know, I will send it to you!*

    Let's start shall we ^^

    One may sit and wonder,
    What lies up ahead.

I like these lines, they make me feel human.
They present to the reader that its natural to
Think about the future, that its alright to create
    Dreams.

How long will I live this life?
    When will I be dead?

This is truly a daunting thought that plagues us subconsciously on a day to day basis.

    Sometimes you hit obstacles,
    That stand in your way.
You try to get by them,
    Day after day.

I like the way you say here that everyday
Is a new challenge and sometimes we might make
It or break it. And that we get on with our lives regardless of the outcome.

    Then comes the time,
When you can take no more.

    Everyone fears that fateful moment
    Where everything just gives in.

    Your mind is too tired,
    To open that last door.

I like that you painted a visual picture.

    Remember this saying,
When you think that you are done.
    Hold on to your fork,
For the best is yet to come.

I like that you imply that death is just the begining and that there is a whole new reality ^^

    Great write
