Dance With Me

by StandStill   Apr 9, 2009

We could sail away through this
desert,
just grab my hand
and close your eyes.
Maybe, if we believed-
(No, it's too hard,
magic ain't real)-
and held on a little tighter,
I could fall into your lyrics
and we could wrap you in my verse.

I'm gettin' a little tired
from standing weary
all
day
long.
I hold my guard
and my tongue
just so that I may be smacked down
in a defiant act.

This is me surviving.
This is you running scared.

Here's to you
with your dancing memories..
I gasp down the poison
and you soothe the fire with your
words.

The hour glass keeps swallowing me;
it devours my dreams and hopes.
You always said that we could
fly away.
Where are your angel wings now?

Beautiful. I love the style in which it's written, the words, the brackets the pagebreaks. A masterpiece.

^ I especially like this play on words. Wonderfully done. . . High fives ^^

Where are your angel wings now?

    Broken and crippled, thanks.
