Boredom s Cage

by Elizabeth Ann   Apr 9, 2009

Like a caged animal I stare, shedding the brevity of the day. But when comes the time to relax, I fail. Boredom emerges from my listlessness. I act but without fun, and a nothingness converges upon my mind. And so I pace but I don t move, considering.

Five minutes becomes an hour and my eyes begin to droop. All too soon my shoulders slump as I start my lean against gravity. I daydream further, and still nothing satisfies me. Would you call this lethargic? Catatonic? My disregard for everything can never last, but for now I can see nothing emerge from this freeze.

Another great piece. Too often we are ensnared by boredom, and the world loses the luster and enjoyment it usually presents. Keep up the good work :)
