Mr. Bunny (Children's Poem)

by Sylvia   Apr 9, 2009

Mr. Bunny, why are you so sad?
I've been waiting a year for this day to come.
There is so much to do!
Easter is almost here.

I've got to get my tuxedo out
with its colorful vest, the bowtie
and black top hat I love to wear.
They have to be cleaned and pressed, said with a sigh.

Empty Easter baskets to prepare,
each one special, items selected with care.
Chocolate bunnies, creme filled eggs,
peeps of all colors, jelly beans, candy easter eggs.

Eggs to boil and paint with pastel dyes,
ready for the egg hunt on Easter morn.
But we must not forget the real reason for
the celebration of Easter, my little children.

It is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.
An important religious feast, Easter Day, Easter Sunday.

I love Easter and i dont think ive ever seen a poem about it. It was adorable.
I have never thought of all the work that the Easter bunny had to do! this was a real wake up call ;]
I love how you incorporated the meaning of Easter into a childrens poem. I really liked how you used it in a fun way, so it wasnt so forced.
    I have missed your poetry.

So adorably written Sylvia. Perfectly written in time for Easter on Sunday. :] Beautiful write.. dont think I have anything to really add to what has already been said. But I will say that, you're one of the few that write Children's Poems on this site and can pull it off no matter what the topic! You should be proud.

    Well done.

Ha ha, every year( from the point he could talk) my son asked me what Easter is all about. I always told him the story about Jesus coming to life again. He tried it on all pets that died since then, but it never worked.
So in his eyes Jesus became a real miracle man:)
Lovely poem, Silvia. Different from the sugar candy coated ones we find in the book stores:)

    *hugs*
