Veiled in Grey

by SashaMirage   Apr 9, 2009

As the silk now shrouds my shaking body
I move into the light of the radiant sun
A skeleton from my dark past reaches out
And with fear I am frozen, weighing a ton

Veiled in grey to hide my beautiful hair
Sad tears of denial fall from light eyes
Oppressed in man's world; a time so unfair
Simplicity reigns king forever disguised

Sins are kept locked by a key of destruction
Red Lipstick hidden to paint seductive lips
In these dreams I dance as a majestic queen
Shaking to the drumming with undulating hips

Kings enter from a nomadic land of my youth
A vibe given off says "innocence betrayed"
Holding on tight as I wrap tighter the veil
Chagrined blood would take place if I swayed

Pandora's box remains locked below ground
Death would be certain if it were revealed
So I move away from the fire burning inside
This Pharaonic dance be forever concealed

    Oppression is not good, Sasha!

Your poem made me see a beautiful, but sad young woman dancing for the men in order to please them....

It's hard to believe sometimes there are matriarchal societies as well in this world, isn't it?

good luck on the contest, sweetheart!

    Hugs,
