I Should Have Known

I should have known this is how it was going to end,
I should have known that you were not going to be more than a friend.
I should have known that you were leading me on the whole way.
I should have been smarter than to believe everything you had to say.

I wish I would have not let my heart step in front of my head,
Then I would have never had to listen to my friends say "that`s what I said".
I should have known this from the start,
but I just did not use my head, just my heart.

One second everything was just fine,

I should have been smarter than this,
I saw it coming all along.
I should have known this relationship was not going to end like a happy love song.

I should have not been so weak.
I should have no let you in.
I should have stood up for myself in the beginning,
so I would have never had to face this end.

I let my heart get in the way.
And I was willing to take the risk.
I put my emotions on the line,
simply because I could not resist.
