The City

by shadow   Apr 19, 2009

Dark grey skies and crowded streets.
Dirty sidewalks and marching feets.
Concrete jungle of people and smells.
Public buses and dirty sewer wells.

At night, dull lights block out every star.
Trails of headlights left from every car.
The noise of the city is an eerie musical sound.
Horns honking and people yelling from all around.

Chainlink fences and a barking dog.
Small children laughing as they play leapfrog.
Rusted traintracks and clanky cars.
Drunken fights outside open bars.

This is the big city.
Such a grand old place.
Where nobody knows your name.
Or has a smile on their face.
