This is very clever and quite deep philosphically. It raises a question I don't think any of us can answer truthfully. Or maybe we can and we just don't like the answer. |
Wow. I've been away for awhile and haven't caught up with reading the poems of my fave poets. This is outstanding. All I can say is, Mel, you have gotten even better than before, which I didn't think possible. I love the way the use of colors conveys emotion and moods. The first stanza with it's semi-rhyme of 'hums' and 'strum' works perfectly (even echoing in the 2nd stanza with 'chums'). You use the colors subtley, no overkill and that's part of the beauty of this piece and why it works so well. The other reason is the emotion and meaning and how it can be taken a couple ways yet still can be felt. The last 4 lines are simply awesome. This is one of those poems that makes me go,'Man, I wish I'd wrote that!'. Great job. |

I feel that color has a profound and quite direct connection to emotion and you play around with that here to a nice effect. Red might either represent passion or anger here, or perhaps even a male figure, but I don't want to go and pick this too much apart because I don't really know what I'm talking about. Enjoyable read. |

I liked it. It is different. Nicely worded and the flow was good. |
