Can You Still Hold On To Teddy?

by Odessa   Apr 20, 2009

A sad little girl cries for Mommy,
Clutching a ragged bear named Teddy,
Mommy whispers in her ear,
Til the tears of sorrow disappear.
But big girls can't call for Mommy,
They've let go of bears named Teddy,
They cry in dark rooms alone,
While evil words crush their bones.
Tattoes twisting down backs and hips,
Blood flies from pierced lips,
Tears like acid rain,
Etch minds full of blame.
Broken girls made of shattered glass,
Lie silently amongst the grass,
Wishing Daddy wouldn't yell,
Hoping things go so well.
Razors become their only friends,
Cutting deep in gloomy dens,
Angry words cover paper,
Thinking no one will miss them later.
No one can see their pain,
Or the rot that fills their brain,
Lured by the lovely bait,
When help comes,
It's far too late.
