Creature in the Night

The freezing rain stung against her skin.
Hood pulled up, to hide the pain within.

A cloudy night.
Much like this.

Had the girl trapped in a maze.
Feelings she just couldn't explain.

Staring up at the dark gray sky.
She lost all hope and was willing to cry.

And just as she closed her eyes.
A soft growl crept from the night.

Fear was all she could feel.
And yet, she dared him to be real.

The creature in the night.
Would bring her some light.

Would make her realize life wasn't just a lie.
