What Had He Been Thinking?

by rebeccasarah   Apr 22, 2009

His sad blue eyes stare deep in hers
apologizing for the words he could not say
he'd never comprehend the pain she now felt
for that drunken mans display.

he quivers and shakes at the sight of her broken body
shes shattered limb through limb.
her spilled blood drowns the road
her tortured frame suffers within.

Purple and blue paint her bruised figure
spreading like wild flowers.
her thundering heart skips a beat
like a broken CD ran for hours.

Blue and red flash in the distance,
but shes already left the world behind.
he catches his alcohol-stained breath.
trying to undo the did; get away from this bind.

his voice is trapped under a cloak of guilt;
when they ask if hes been drinking.
he'll never be able to forgive himself,
what had he been thinking?

( I had originally wrote this .. slightly awful before, so I attempted to fix it. )
