Whispering Elephants.

by xx   Apr 22, 2009

My teacher gave us three poem titles to choose two from, and we had to write a poem based on the title.

Whispering elephants,
They tip toe along.
But they are still large
And they are still strong.

Whispering giraffes,
They are so very tall.
They chew their leaves quietly,
Towering over us all.

Whispering lions,
They silently guide us-
We let them do so
Without any fuss.

Whispering alligators,
They noiselessly stalk
The prey of their choice-
Like a moose or a hawk.

Whispering fireflies,
They fly by so fast;
Just a flash of light,
And they've flown right past.

Whispering ants,
They work restlessly!
They make the saying
"Busy bee" pure irony.

Whispering children,
They are incredibly loud;
Unintentionally sharing secrets
With all-too-eager crowds.

Whispering people,
They tell us small lies.
They know of their sins-
Yet still, they defy.

    You know, I can find people in all of the animals you describe, besides the people in the ending. It is a good poem, and I can tell, I've know people who act like lions-guiding everything, who are pure aligators-silently watcing their prey, and almost in every other animal.
    Nice poem, you're good at given titles, and I really liked the idea.
    Also, the rhyming is awesome! It doesn't seem forced at all, it seems like the rhymed words are easily getting out of your mind, which I appreciate a lot.
    Great poem. 5/5
