Fooling Yourself

by Beautiful Chaos   Apr 22, 2009

If truth fell from your lips
As often as a lie
Life would be much simpler
And not just pass you by

If love were not a game
Your heart would surely win
More than what you settle for
No strings of violin

Self pity is a useless tool
That chains you to the ground
Submerges you in misery
And leaves you there to drown

Drug and drink will never give
What truth and strength provide
A pride of self we all contain
That you have set aside

Digging holes inside of holes
Just so we won't see
This thing that's grown so obvious
There is no fooling me

What a powerful and true message. Great rhythm, rhyme and flow. Weaved together with talent. Your poems always make perfect sense to me and are void of forced rhyming. Excellent job!
