Whiskey Lullaby (VERY LONG)

by Christy   Apr 24, 2009

As she drank her bottle of whiskey
She looked around the room
Everyone was dancing and laughing
Except for her, feeling gloom.
She broke his heart, this she knew
And every day that passed by she felt regret
She drank her whiskey
Trying so hard just to forget
Later on that night
She brought another man home
Whenever she woke up the next morning
She still felt utterly alone.
The love of her life was far gone
And there was nothing she could do
She begged and pleaded for him to stay
But his last words to her were, "I hate you."
Her long years of life cut short
After one stormy night
She finally had enough
And took away her own life
A couple of days later, he got a phone call
The girl's mother told him she died
He hung up the phone very quickly
And the boy bent down and cried.
He couldn't believe what he just heard
He kept on telling himself, "It's not true."
Then he finally called her mother back
Asking her what to do
She said, "Come by the funeral tomorrow
Even if it's just for a short while."
He told her he'd be there;
It was only a couple of miles.
The next day, he stood by her grave
For hours on end
He finally set down the flowers
His broken heart was never going to mend
A few months passed and he lost himself
He was always drinking
He'd smile and dance with everyone else
But none of them knew what he was thinking.
Later that night, he went into his room
Clinging to the only picture of her he had
As he drank his bottle of whiskey
He couldn't help but feel sad.
He looked at his dresser and saw a gun
Right away, he picked it up
Before he pulled the trigger
He said, "I've finally had enough."
The next day they found his body
And buried him next to the one he loved
Now they're both together again
Along with the angels from up above.
