Suffocated

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 26, 2009

All is still, too motionless, as wonder creeps into her thoughts,
Standing in awe, taking a glimpse of the effects of the winter storm.
Smooth and sleek ice overpowers each inch of God's creation,
Crunchy snow hidden beneath, creating a deadly combination.

Snap! A sickening crack pierces the dead dusk silence,
As a heavy tree limb falls, picking up speed, bound to kill.
Looking up in terror, her expression frozen with fear,
Urging her legs to run aside, lurching out of harm.

But her reactions were too slow, too late to be saved,
She realizes what's to come, blue eyes wide with terror.
A high-pitched scream escapes her lips but is soon stopped.
Crash! The life-taking maple tree crushes her innocent body.

Ongoing sirens emerge, as villagers run hastily outside,
Children crying at the feet of their weeping mother.
Two days later, red roses are placed in her front yard,
The exact spot where her life was unfairly torn apart.

I wrote this a bit ago and recently came upon it, this was when there were lots of ice storms and trees falling all over the place.

    MaryAnne,

These ice storms and other really violent nature events can take so many lives and destroy all one has built in a life time.
I think you did really well on this. It read like a script to a movie, but ever so sad...

    *hugs*

    5/5 Ingrid
