Batteries

by H E Losey   Apr 30, 2009

Dr. Seuss and Mother Goose
Each told a very fine rhyme
With Horton and Miss Muffett
Our children had a fine time

But now it is all video
Readings a thing of the past
Parent's biggest concern
How long the batteries last.

I like the concept of this poem. It's blunt and to the point.

To true are the words that you've written. When childern care more about the life of a device instead of the condition of their favorite book then something is seriously wrong. But what do I know, I just finished downloading my most loved story to my iPod.

True as long as they last it is quiet. Tis sad also that now we read less.

Reading? Is that still allowed ? haha
what truth is in your words. Videos, movies all a mind numbing entertainment, when books are so much more exciting. Being able to read and use our imaginations
    Excellent write

Very well written! I enjoyed the rhyming; it flowed really well. You have a good point in your poem and it came through clearly. Well done, 5/5

Talk about hitting the nail on the head, great modern expressive poem I joyed the sadness and the fun. I must admit I have just sent my son a book of nursery rhymes for my grandson Finley.
I sometimes miss the old measures dont you.
