Photographers

by Corinne   Apr 30, 2009

So many amateur photographers
With telephoto lenses
And macro lenses
All getting in the way
As we camera-less ones
Strain to enjoy
The flowers

They attempt to freeze
And capture
For all time
The beauty they see

Foolish ones!
Though I am among them
Trying to do the same
With words

3rd poem in a series written during a visit to the Botanic Gardens

Not foolish really! Like poetry photography is an art and those who have talent should go on with it. A poet can convey a simple thing with beautifully crafted words that makes an ordinary thing much more interesting. Similarly a photographer tries to frame something in a unique and beautiful way. But this is the one aspect of photography. Actually photography is much more than that.
Sorry if you find it harsh. But need to respect all the forms of art.
Poem is good but can't be agreed with you.

I've always wondered if the photographer actually enjoys what he/she is looking at or if the photo itself is more important. Can't see for looking and all that.

Nearly the same thought came to mind recently on my visit to pine mountain. One thing though.....pictures can't put off the scent that was captured while viewing those beautiful flowers. I enjoyed this delightful read as well.

Great job on this piece. Our minds sometimes can capture so much more then a picture. It's like reading a good book. They make a movie of it. Yet it never compares to the images in our minds that we have from reading the book.

Photos are ok but words can say so much more and paint many vivid images the camera doesn't capture. Well done.
