Swine Flu Genocide (Double Etheree)

Fear
of the
vast unknown
drives people in-
Sanity is lost;
bloodshed of innocence
shields blinded eyes from the truth.
When death comes knocking; they answer.
Blameless blamed: is ignorance blissful?
Hundreds fallen ill, thousands left for dead.

How does it feel to hold lives in your hands?
To know the slightest movement could end
and the smallest words could murder
these lives, delicate and frail.
The swine flu genocide;
three-hundred-thousand
slaughtered and gone;
Rest in peace.
Pieces.
You.

Double Etheree: (number of syllables in each line) first verse...1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 second verse...10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Note: 300,000+ pigs were slaughtered recently in Egypt as a precaution against the swine flu which hasn't even reached that country, yet. It's upsetting. I dedicate this poem to those murdered swines. People are idiots sometimes.

    This poem is so incredibly sad. I did not hear about this swine execution...how sad is that! That hurts my heart a bit...

    I was very impressed by this poem overall. Firstly, because you took a subject that very few would think to actually write a poem on, and something which is very much current and of great importance at this very moment.

    ^^ I like what you did there, tying in the last two lines around 'insanity/sanity'. It's so true, as well, the actions some people have taken because of this really does seem quite insane and franky, very stupid.

    I feel so sorry for the thousands and thousands of innocent pigs being slaughtered by ignorant people who think doing so is going to make a difference.

    Well done on this poem.

    Swine flu isn't really from pigs... I'll pray for all the poor swine out there. Kudos on the topic, I was so excited to read it when I saw the title. So many people are freaking out over this swine flu... Thousands of people day every day from the regular flu. Heck, people even die from the vaccine that's supposed to prevent the flu. It's just the media putting false and unnecessary fear into people's heads, and sadly it's working. I say it's the government trying to distract us from something bigger! Haha. But anyway, loved the write, really enjoyed reading it. :)

    I got to read this poem by coincidence... Actually I was searching for a double etheree and luckily i found this poem. This poem is absolutely amazing and shocking to a big extent. I enjoyed reading this poem and its an eye-opener.
