Arcanum

by Armada the Gestalt   May 4, 2009

(Worlds might end if worlds
need end.)

justice waits with shielded wings
devil is deaf as the reaper sings
lovers wither in a blaze of joy;
fool falls prey to magician's ploy
priestess sees not what she has sown:
her child the empress fully grown
hermit crawls as he shells away
within the Tower where he shall stay
fortune's hand points toward the moon-
sun falls prey to the night too soon
Tower crumbles and drags all down
to the claws of the World with its two-heart crown,
duece card knows not which way he turns
the pattern reversed as the
Hanged Man burns.

(Worlds must end if worlds
need end, need end...)

This is great! I don't understand the ratings you got. 3.0? :/ I'm giving you a 5. :) I love the flow. It seems like it comes easy here. I love that.

    Hi D,
The title Arcanum was a baffler for a while but with the net on call I came up with dozens of interpretations the one I liked the most was the Hermetic Arcanum explanation, secrets of nature and art concerning the matter of the philosophers' stone and the manner of its working. I knew about the game as well I have a son who is heavy into all the gaming scene. even at 36 ha! ha! Though he prefers Competition Poker now.

I digress the poem was beautifully put together though not my cup of tea I think I got the drift and enjoyed it for its originality a good poem though grim and deep. RayS
