Drinking

by Greg   Jun 13, 2004

I find myself drinking to dull the pain
my beating heart in concert with the driving rain
shot after shot – hours go by like minutes
chaos has made my mind its home.

My life has become a maze,
walls everywhere – hard to tell night from day
don't know where to turn – dead ends all around
just when i think i'll find my way – a sign reads wrong way

who can i turn to in this mess
the walls are too high – no one to hear my distress
so i wander on – true to my goal
beat the game, pass the test, only then can I rest.
