Wake Up Little Girl

by RavishingEruption   May 5, 2009

Wake up, Little Girl
The world doesn't spin for you
Times have changed
And it's time you do, too

Wake up, Little Girl
Not everyone will love you
Most won't, in fact
It's unfortunate but true

Wake up, Little Girl
There's no one to hold your hand
You have no choice
Your future is already planned

Wake up, Little Girl
Find someone who cares
Life isn't free, little girl
There is nothing misfortune spares

Wake up, Little Girl
Look at where you've been
You used to be nothing
Here, keep up that chin

Something awakens the little girl
It screams inside her head
"Don't let them tell you you're gonna drown;
You must try your best to tread!"

The little girl wakes up
And pushes her way through
Out of the gray they've made
Out into a sky of blue

Wow Tara, this is good stuff! It reminds me of the song To Be With You by Mr Big, as that repeats the words 'Little Girl' a few times, and it had a similar meaning :)

This is really indepth, you could feel the emotion, and I loved the ending, it could have been very pessimistic if you had chosen to, but it ended up being very happy :D

    5/5 from me!

    Keep writing and take care,
    Emily :)

The poem started out sad, and held great rythym and depth. And then as it grew, it was as if reaching the light at the end of the tunnel. This was a fantastic write from beginning to end. 5/5
