Hello

by Bradley Peter   May 5, 2009

Hello, to you whom I see before me,
Hello, to the honesty you bring,
Is it the truth that'll set you free?
Or does it leave you with a sting?

Hello, to a lesser version of me,
Hello. Is it cool in my shade?
Say hello to who you cocouldn't be,
Into my shadow you shall fade.

Hello to what I could've been,
Hello to the sadness on your face,
In this tiny quarantine,
Is the world that you embrace.

'Hello' is your simple reply,
'Hello to the splendour of being fake,
Daily you manage to lie,
How much more can you take?'

'Hello to all your many smiles,
Hello to the joy that you spread,
Hello to all your many styles,
That hide the insecurities in your head'

'Hello to the 'real' me,
Hello to my perfection,
Tell me, are you really care-free?
When looking at your own reflection?'

This was great. I especially loved this part:

"Tell me, are you really care-free?
When looking at your own reflection?"

There is a lot of meaning and honesty in your writing, and I think you did a great job on this. I really like it. 5/5

An interesting piece. I like it though. Line 7 has a typo you might want to fix :) I like how it's a poem about self-examination and honesty with yourself. Sometimes we even lie to ourselves, and that's such a sad situation. And I think we all find ourselves thinking about who we are, were, or who we could have been. Good description and good conclusion. I give it a 4/5.
