Sing For Me Little Songbird

by Ingrid   May 6, 2009

Oh, little songbird,
many lonely months have passed,
but you came back to me once more.
Sing out your cheerful melody,
as in sweet days of yore.

Oh, little songbird,
how could you have known
that I needed you so?
Sweet satin-voiced troubadour
from a land, I'll never know.

Oh, little songbird,
on my sunny ledge, you now perch.
Perform your sweet aubade d'amour.
Sing for me, my ruby-winged love...
I shall not be sad anymore.

* With many thanks to Kiko for his input:)

This poem is a tribute to my friend Chris G.

Chrissy, you were there for me and picked me up when I was down, two times in a row. You have always treated me with kindness and respect and that is how I will remember you.

    Hello Ingrid,

this is lovely tribute to a friend. To be likened to a song-bird, a "troubadour" is a tribute indeed. It is nice to see a poem assist by our friend Kiko - I think he has logged on recently, so hopefully he'll be sharing his wisdom with us once more.

A very enjoyable and accomplished piece. ((hugs)) xx

That was very beautiful, made me smile. It really reminds me of springtime, when everything dead comes alive again, including our souls! You are an amazing artist. Keep writting, 5/5.

Awh, what a cute little piece. Your repetition was great in this poem. Short write but beautifully done. Good job - again!

    Lovely lovely write...
I could heard the songbird singing in your beautiful words... the longingess to heard to sing... its sweet melody reverberates in your write...

lovely imagery and beautiful word choice ... nicely penned...
somewhere I felt sad... for the way nature is being destroyed... dnt know till when the song bird will sing near our homes...

Such a joyful write. You can almost hear the songbird singing and see it on the window sill. Well done.
