Fortunes Demise

by Daisy if you do   May 8, 2009

Crescent moon canted
trove of stars its bed
lone wispy grey cloud
looming overhead

Creatures of the dark
wander back to forest den
nursing hungers ache
'til they can prowl again

Silent night is over
let dawning now begin
final phase of sleep
as brilliant sun peeks in

Daybreak has revealed
a layer of dew on lawns
over in the meadow
are lovely gamboling fawns

Morning glories open
perfumes float on breeze
awaking natures senses
to thirsty birds and bees

Shifting tides rise and fall
the land no longer bliss
how much more can be endured
until no longer she exists

Crescent moon canted
falling from its bed
enormous mushroom clouds
looming overhead

Creatures of the dark
crawl from nuclear den
nursing hungers ache
from carcasses of hen

Silent night is over
so let the end begin
ignorant to the outcome
the wages of our sins

Daybreak has revealed
yellow dust on lawns
toxic landfill waste
food for mutant fawn

Morning glories open
radiation floats on breeze
killing natures senses
leaving nothing but disease

Is it fate or destiny
does it seem a little strange
just gluttons for her vengeance
or pawns within her game

Every time I read a new poem on this site I am amazed at the variety, imagery, sincerity and knowledge of our members.
This poem of yours Kay has all the above and it drives home to us the importance of us the individual. That by just putting those few items in the recycle bin or making the effort to support one of the many organisation and lobbying brigades to Save Our Planet we show we care, I know it is sad that our Governments don't take heed of our pleas for reform and it brings home that money is still the Master of our Universe sad but true.
Another excellent poem in all its glorious form and meter a true I got the message across poem excellent 5/5 Ray S

I think it should have been the winner. Don't know how well I could have done since I go short 97% of the time.

Because of mankind stubborness and greed for the mighty buck, this earth that was entrusted to us by our maker is slowly dieing.
Reading this gives me the creeps as to what to come if we don't shape up and, try to do our part in it's preservation.
You have done a marvelous job in writing this piece and deserve a pat on your back for bringing it to the world's attention.
    Superbly penned.
    Keep up the great work.

This poem is amazing. I like the idea that the poem is subtlely split into 2 parts. It is quite disturbing how man made waste can lead to destruction of our nature. But you have penned it well here. Excellent Job
