Stained with ink

by Still Slightly Broken   May 13, 2009

She picks up the pen in her trembling hand
And she writes for as long as her body can stand
She looks at the page, stained with black ink and tear drops
And reads until the story is no more and finally stops

She folds it in half, and addresses it to her mother,
To her friends, to her sisters, to her dad, to her brother
She picks up the razor, the note, her courage, her heart
She drags the blade down her wrist and prepares to depart

When her mother comes home to find her, she cries:
"How did this happen, why didn't I see through her lies?"
But as she looks down to find the note in her hand,
She reads and she knows, she finally understands.

"Mum, you couldn't have saved me, this is how it had to be,
But don't be sad or afraid, just know now, I'm free...
Tell them I love them, they gave me my light
But he should know, this is his fault, HE is why I'm not here tonight."
