Confessions of a Loving Daughter

by Sarah   May 13, 2009

When I think of a person who has influenced my life in so many ways, I think of my father. He has been there for me since the day I opened my eyes, and he will always be right by my side. My father is the embodiment of courage, friendship, and devotion. Through this one man, I've learned how to be the person I am today.

Infants and toddlers tend to seek the love and affection of their mother, but as they grow older they feel the innate need for fathering. Since I was a child, I've always sought independence. Following rules and obeying grown-ups were hard for me to comprehend. I thought that being strong meant being in control of yourself and those around you. My father was the one man who proved me wrong. He taught me how to be a real person. And that the meaning lies far beyond letters and words spoken, but in actions and good deeds that define who we really are.

Another thing my father taught me is courage. Not only in the normal sense of the word, but also in every aspect of my life. I've known that courage is shown in the ability of offering help, love, and devotion. The will and desire of being the best and rising above ourselves when everything around us goes wrong, is the core of our being. Life is a challenge; a continuous struggle of failure and achievements, and only those who have been taught and encouraged to take the challenge are those who survive.

''Fathers inspire children to be the best of what they already are. Children inspire men to tap into their deepest and greatest potential.'' This quote sums it up. It defines the greatest relationship of all; fatherhood. In life, you'll be influenced by many, but none like your father.

Loved this because it appreciates our fathers, this is not done often as it should be. Bet your father will be really greatful if he had a chance to read this. I really liked the message behind it. Keep up.
